A 30 something guy, who likes: computers, photography, coffee (naturally) and good times with his friends.
As a new homeowner, I'm looking around my house and seeing a few things that I'd like to change. The first project on my DIY list is to pull down a few doors, strip them of a century worth of paint and refinish them.
Oh yeah, to earn the cash to pay for my hobbies (and house!) I play with MySQL databases all day for a local company.

World Time Clock
By Manzabar
While perusing ProductWiki I happened across what's undoubtably the coolest clock for the international traveller, the World Time Clock. It was designed by Charlotte Van Der Waals. To see what time it is in another part of the world, you just rotate the clock until the appropriate city is on top. Very slick but a bit pricey at $75 for the basic black (shown here) and $200 for the stainless steel version, available from Junro.
Earthen floors
By Manzabar
The NYTimes.com has an article up discussing earthen or dirt/mud floors as a modern building technique apparently picking up steam out in the Western United States. Some of the pictures in the article make the floors look gorgeous but somehow I don't think this would work well in my area (too much rain/snow/ice in Iowa). Found via TreeHugger.

Ice Luminaries: I use standard sized ice cream buckets and a 3 cup tupperware container type thing for the center hole. Plastic peanut butter jars work great too. I use tealights in those aluminum cups so they'll burn out before they can catch anything on fire. But, if the tea lights would melt the ice, the water generated should keep any flames at bay!!
