I live in a custom Cape Cod,constructed of mixed brick, designed and built in the late 50's by the couple we bought it from (He was a construction foreman, she a housewife with rather precious taste) So we have 1950's green/ pink and pink/ blue tile in both bathrooms. We have great hardwood floors throughout, which we discovered once we stripped the baby blue wall to wall carpet. I'm not even going to mention the raw silk noile draperies, also pink (gone but not forgotten!)
We have done a few things to update the house, but I'm also very much wanting to keep the 50's feel of the house, if not necessarily the baby pastels color scheme.
Update, Aug 2008 trying to sell the house, so we can move to OK to be with my elderly mother.

My Pretty House is for Sale
By cassandrajand I have very mixed emotions. On one hand, I very much want to move to the Midwest, to be closer to family and have lower bills, less traffic, and a slower lifestyle.
On the other hand, I love my house! I fixed it up with not much money but much love and consideration. I relish the compliments I get, because it makes me happy that I was able to decorate and paint and bring out the best in this well designed, well made house.
