Vintage Doors into Tabletops?

I have these two beautiful vintage doors. I want to turn them into tabletops.

What I'm unsure of is how to finish the top. I don't want to use a slab of glass laid over. I'd like to do some version of using lacquer, glaze, finish of some sort to create a thick, clear finish that makes the surface flat » READ MORE

Is the Chia Obama in bad taste?

Have you seen this little item yet? I saw the television commercial for it for the first time last night and almost shot milk out of my nose. Ideas for redoing an entryway?

This is a picture of the front entry on the house we just bought. It's about as un-Feng Shui as you can get! Instead of being a functional, inviting feature it looks more like a sad afterthought.  The door itself was painted with a flat band-aid colored paint that shows every scuff and mark, the doorknob is cheap and feels like it could fall off every time you turn it, the porch is small and useless and the stairway is so narrow » READ MORE

Painted Craftsman Woodwork a Tragedy?

The owners of this Craftsman bungalow really, really like white. They've painted over all the dark woodwork and either bleached the original floors or had nearly-white hardwood installed. The interior seems to be a bit of a stew with elements of contemporary and mid-century modern, with a little modern country and traditional thrown in. Overall, however, contemporary leanings win out. Color advice

I just moved into a non-descript little apartment in a jewel of a small town. My new furniture was rescued mainly from Craigslist, but a lot of my stuff has been collected over years and some wise inheriting. I want to paint the backsplash and space above the kitchen cabinets and an accent wall above my couch.

Stefan Chair Do-Over

Something about spring this year has gotten me itching to do something about my dining room. I decided to start with our bare pine Stefan chairs. I want to paint them, and add a seat cushion. I was thinking of 2" foam covered with oil cloth (staple-gunned to the bottom of the seat).

Painting Vinyl Trailer Walls And Need Advice!

If walls could talk, mine would say " I hate you, I hate you so much that I ooze ugliness because I like seeing you cringe..."

Well I'm ready to fight back. But I'm not prepared. I heard a few people say that TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) will give the vinyl a good 'tooth' for the paint to adhere to. So I guess I have to invest a good week and a ton of muscle into just scrubbing the entire house down.

Materials

Does anyone have any fabric or fabric sample books they are willing to part with? I will pay the shipping.
